In defence of tilt controls
Tilt controls get a bad reputation, usually from games that implemented them lazily. But when a developer actually tunes them well, they can be the most natural way to play a mobile racer.
Dustline Drift is my current proof of this. The tilt steering has just enough give that small adjustments feel precise, and drifting becomes almost physical. I found myself leaning in my seat, which is always a good sign.
The trick is sensitivity settings. Any game offering tilt should also offer a slider, and ideally a touch alternative for people on the train who'd rather not wave their phone around.
So before you dismiss tilt out of hand, give a well-made racer a fair shot. It changed my mind, and I was a sceptic for years.
